the imposing lodge on whose polished parquet i now am standing offers me not mere views through floor-to-ceiling plate glass windows but expansive vistas.

formerly, from mullioned panes in my small and tilting cottage, i would gaze with unspoken delight upon the setting sun and my very good fortune.

i was happy to be alive amidst simple things and pleasures.

I'm a 60 yr old woman who has spent her life in pursuit of a dream. That dream was for a happy an peaceful world for all however I also was looking for the truth about our situation whether any of this was possible.

i involved myself in many paths campus radical, communes, meditation groups, jw's and now all i can say is I have lived honestly and have followed my conscience whatever the cost.

Have i found the answers i want? not really. everything seems to be a dead end. The reason i say this is don't feel too sad or alone were all here together and life is not fair most of us just live at our set point of happiness and put one foot in front of the other and every now and then theres a surprise.

i can see how in your writings theres strong feelings and you convey much with language. Anytime you have gift as you do for writing and work hard at it you can get satisfaction.

whatever our fate in all of this is we can at least be satisfied that we looked at the monster and stood our ground.

your writings have a strange and magnetic quality and I just wonder who you really are?

are you writing because you have an obsessive love of language and poetry or is there something that disturbs you about life, love meaning that cries out for expression.

I just watched time disappear ...

good morning, fellow posters.. i got up a few minutes ago to watch time disappear, right before my very eyes - an entire hour, to be exact.

as the computer clock approached 2:00 a.m. i knew that this would be the first time i had ever done this: see the time go from 1:59 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.. the earth has moved beneath my feet .... please share your clock-watching stories.. or is this going to be a dead thread?.

time time see whats become of me while i looked around for my possibilities

I was so hard to please look around leaves are brown and the sky is a hazy shade of winter

hang on to your hopes my friend that an easy thing to say but if your hopes should pass away

simply pretend that you can build them again.

I love that song haven't listened to it in years and a song can transport one to another time and suddenly this long dead you resurfaces for a one brief shining moment.

Sometimes when I look at an old photo of myself, I realize that I don't remember that day when it was taken and that young woman in the picture is long gone and has been replaced by me she is essentially dead.

I also think about all the days she lived that are forgotten, I can't really remember what she did ten years ago on a specific day yet i know those days were filled with activity. So yes time does disappear and is replaced with today.

The phrase "Playing God" is, with a moment's reflection, actually an indictment of God

from time to time we hear people someone condemn someone or some entity for "playing god.

if it's not morally upright for an individual or an entity to "play god" (we're not talking about identity, because god can't be anything but what s/he/it is), then why is it morally upright for god to "play god"?..

the obvious answer is that it isn't..

I'm tired of forcing myself to respect and love a being who does things that seem terrible to me making the excuse that "that i can't see the whole picture" well what i do see sends shivers down my spine. No pretty flowers or tasty food is worth the death and pain that has been going on for centuries.
